Hatiya-based Organizations
Hatiya's diaspora of students and professionals in Dhaka and other cities has, over the decades, organised itself into welfare associations that raise funds, run scholarships and coordinate disaster relief for people back home — Hatiya Chhatra Forum – Dhaka (HCFD), which runs this website, is one such organisation, alongside district- and upazila-level Samity/Kalyan Samity bodies more broadly common across Noakhali's expatriate communities.
On the island itself, development and conservation work is carried out by a mix of local NGOs, the Forest Department (which manages Nijhum Dwip National Park), and the elected Union Parishads and Upazila Parishad. Dwip Unnayan Sangstha (DUS) is one locally active development organisation running transport, education and welfare programmes for islanders.
