Hatiya on the Map

Hatiya Upazila is the island upazila of Noakhali District in Chattogram Division, in the lower Meghna estuary where it opens into the Bay of Bengal. The current government statistical profile records an administrative area of 2,101.73 km², including extensive river, estuary and coastal water rather than only settled land. Channels separate it from mainland Noakhali to the north and other coastal upazilas to the west; open estuary and bay define much of its eastern and southern edge.

There is no road bridge from the mainland, so every practical route includes a water crossing. The Chairman Ghat–Nalchira route is a commonly used gateway, but vessel type and departure change with weather, tide, navigability and official restrictions. Travellers should confirm locally on the day rather than treating any old online timetable as permanent.
