Freshers' Reception 2026: HCFD welcomes the newest students in Dhaka
Nearly two hundred students who joined universities and colleges in Dhaka from Hatiya this year gathered for the annual freshers' reception.

This year's freshers' reception brought together students from Hatiya who have just started their studies in Dhaka. They came from the University of Dhaka, Jagannath University, Jahangirnagar University, BUET, Dhaka Medical College and a range of other institutions across the capital.
The programme opened with the forum handing each new student an orientation booklet covering hall and mess procedures, where to look for scholarships, emergency contact numbers, and the basics of getting around Dhaka.
Senior students spoke about their own first year. Speakers noted that for students arriving from the island, the hardest part is arranging accommodation and food in the opening months and adjusting to an unfamiliar city. That is precisely the gap HCFD wants to fill.
The event closed with an announcement that from the coming academic year the number of scholarships for students in financial need will be increased, and at least one career and admission guidance session will be held every month.
