Annual picnic 2026: a full day of games and songs from the island
On a winter Friday just outside Dhaka, more than three hundred students joined the forum's annual picnic.

More than three hundred students and well-wishers joined HCFD's annual picnic at a venue just outside Dhaka, with sports contests, cultural performances and prize-giving running through the day.
The cultural segment featured bhatiali and jarigan, the songs long familiar to the river islands. Organisers said keeping that connection alive while living in Dhaka is part of what the forum is for.
The day closed with an introduction of the new executive committee members and a presentation of the coming year's plan of work.
